Artist Statement
Anthony Krol is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and cultural organizer whose practice has developed through a lifelong exploration of art, public space, subculture, and collective experience. Raised in the American Midwest, Krol encountered art through drawing and making from an early age, later finding formative languages in underground art, skateboarding, music, design, and the independent culture surrounding them. This DIY foundation continues to inform a practice grounded in the belief that creative expression is an inherent human capacity, and that the environments we create for one another have the power to shape how we perceive, connect, and live.
Moving between painting, murals, public art, installation, curation, and immersive experience, Krol's work explores consciousness, sovereignty, and the evolving question of what it means to be human. His practice considers art as both visual language and energetic exchange: capable of altering the atmosphere of a place, interrupting systems built around consumption, and creating opportunities for recognition, participation, beauty, and joy.
Underlying the work is a social ethic of compassion, peace, and non-harm, alongside a commitment to creative freedom and authentic cultural expression. Krol's ongoing inquiry, Art in the Age of Energy, examines the relationship between attention, consciousness, technology, place, and human agency; asking how art might help create a more beautiful and compassionate visual culture for the generations that follow.
